Jonathan has amassed 25 years of experience in the fields of applied research, engineering and commercialisation within the following industries:
- Oil and Gas Producers (OGP)
- Management Consulting
During this time, Jonathan has maintained varying technical and management roles within a number of key organisations across these industries—NASA (conducting defence aerospace research), the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO), the Cooperative Research Centre for Advanced Composite Structures, Advanced Composite Structures Australia (composite materials in aerospace, maritime and OGP), RMIT University (Department of Aerospace Engineering; part-time) and General Motors Holden (automotive).
In the course of his career, Jonathan has also had dealings with a multitude of external organisations, both domestic and international. These include the Defence Materials Technology Organisation, European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS – the then parent company of Airbus and Cassidian), PETRONAS (Malaysia’s national oil and gas company), National Research Council Canada, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, the United States Naval Academy, and the United States Naval Surface Warfare Center.
In his current role as a Management Consultant with MPR Innovation (and previously with Capstone Partners), he assists a variety of clients with a keen focus on business and technology strategy and technology commercialisation.
Jonathan is also engaged by RMIT University’s Graduate School of Business and Law and the School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (now the School of Engineering), where he is involved in the teaching, coordination and/or creation of a number of postgraduate courses for a variety of degrees, including the MBA, MBA (Executive), Master of International Business and Master of Engineering (Management).
Jonathan’s technical skills are in the areas of structural dynamics, signal processing, active and passive vibration control, personnel armour, non-destructive inspection, advanced materials and structural health monitoring. His expertise also extends to multi-organisation project management, personnel management, resource and budget management, strategic planning and implementation, operational management, intellectual-property portfolio assessment, business-case financial modelling, governmental program review, research and commercialisation funding, and marketing strategy.
