Preparing for retirement

How prepared are you for retirement?

Preparing for retirement can be both daunting and exciting – you’re entering a fresh chapter filled with a whole new world of possibilities, however many also face financial and emotional challenges that can be overwhelming.

Cam Morcher and other advisers at Prime work closely with retirees and those nearing retirement to design bespoke lifestyle plans so that their clients can feel confident that their savings will be put to good use.

“Our goal is to make sure your savings are working for you so that you can enjoy the retirement you want,” says Cam.

“Every individual has a unique situation – our team works directly with each client to define their personal needs.”

Cam said that as a first step his team works through the following discussion points to determine your individual circumstances and what you’re looking for from a retirement plan:

• What age do you wish to retire?
• Do you have enough retirement savings to last your lifetime?
• Will your current investments achieve the income you will need?
• Do you have a current Will and Binding Death Nomination in place?
• Do you wish to leave an inheritance and if so, to whom?

Prime will also work with you to understand your current financial positioning including income, expenses, assets and liabilities.

“Identifying significant life events and making provision for them is another vital first step in the broader planning process,” Cam said.

This may include factors such as property or business disposal, inheritance, plans for retirement, approaching age 60, divorce, marriage or the death of a family member.
